Labor Secretary Visits Arizona and Colorado as Part of “America At Work” Tour

Secretary Chavez-DeRemer and Representative Ciscomani meet with educators, business leaders, and construction professionals to address labor needs and training initiatives.

Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer continued her America at Work Tour with visits to Arizona and Colorado earlier this month. She visited Pima Community College in Tucson alongside Congressman Juan Ciscomani to observe workforce training programs and discuss efforts to strengthen the talent pipeline. Joined by college and business leaders, the visit focused on preparing workers for high-demand jobs in construction and related industries. A roundtable with the Arizona Builders Alliance addressed the ongoing labor shortage and explored how reducing regulatory burdens could help meet local and national workforce demands.

“I enjoyed learning firsthand how educators and businesses in Tucson have developed pathways to successful, good-paying careers in construction and building trades. … I look forward to collaborating on workforce solutions that continue growing our economy,“ said Secretary Chavez-DeRemer.

The labor secretary then met with the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters and the Southwest Mountain States Carpenters Training Fund at an apprentice training facility in Denver. She also participated in a discussion with leaders from CareerWise USA in facilitating apprenticeships.

“The partnerships I learned about demonstrate the importance of collaboration to build a strong, resilient workforce, which is especially important as this Administration advances America First policies to bring jobs back to the U.S.,“ Secretary Chavez-DeRemer said. “I’ll continue moving forward with commonsense policies to ensure every worker, regardless of their background, has the skills they need to succeed.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Chavez-DeRemer to be led by God as she manages the Department of Labor.
  • For discernment for Labor Department officials as they promote apprenticeship and employment in trades.
  • For President Trump and members of his administration as they seek to return manufacturing and production to the U.S.
